VIRTUAL THERAPY ACROSS NEW YORK

Ignite Your Path to Healing

I'm Bianca D'Aguanno Dortz, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in OCD, fear-based disorders, phobias, self esteem and eating disorders. I use Exposure and Response Prevention, CBT and other evidence-based approaches to help you face what you have been avoiding or struggling with at a pace that stays genuinely useful to you, never faster.

WHERE I FOCUS

What I Help With

Most of my work sits with fear, the kind that narrows your world until avoidance starts making your decisions for you.

OCD & Intrusive Thoughts

Obsessions, compulsions, and the exhausting loop between them. ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD, and it is the core of how I work learning to tolerate uncertainty instead of neutralizing it.

Phobias & Fear-Based Anxiety

Specific fears, including flight and travel anxiety. We build exposure work step by step, so avoidance stops setting the terms and your world gets bigger again.

Self-Esteem & Core Beliefs

Underneath harsh self-talk, there are usually older beliefs about who you are and what you deserve. We dig those up, test them against the evidence, and use CBT to adjust them. Mindfulness adds a steadier way of relating to your own thoughts, so the foundation we build keeps holding after sessions end.

Grief & Loss

Losing a grandparent, pet, a partner, a close friend, or anyone who shaped the days you lived. Grief does not follow a schedule, and it rarely looks the way people expect. We make room for it, and I use a CBT approach combined with narrative to work with the guilt, the “what ifs,” and the stuck thoughts that can keep a loss from setting.

Life Transitions

Graduating, moving, a breakup, a new job, a new baby, or the sudden quiet after a big chapter closes. Even changes you wanted can leave you unsure of who you are now. We slow down, sort out what is ending and what is beginning, and build the footing to move forward at a pacethat feels doable.

Eating disorders & Disordered Eating

Restriction, bingeing, purging, body image, and the quiet rules that shrink a life. This work is paced carefully and held in a trauma-informed frame.

WHO I AM

In our sessions, I pair compassionate directness with unwavering support, because the most meaningful breakthroughs often happen when we gently step outside our comfort zones. But I hold that directness alongside warmth, curiosity, and compassion. You should feel safe bringing me the thoughts, fears, and experiences you may not have said out loud anywhere else and trust that I’ll meet you there without judgment, while also gently challenging you when it matters most.

GETTING STARTED

What to Expect

Starting therapy is its own kind of exposure. Here is what the beginning actually looks like.

Before we start.

A free 15-minute consultation, so you can hear how I work and I can hear what is bringing you in. If I am not the right fit, I will say so and point you somewhere better.

Our first session.

I take my time getting to know you, your history and what has actually been going on, not just the symptoms. There is room for things to unfold, and no pressure to share more than you are ready to.

The first few weeks.

Goals and a plan take shape as I get to know you, rather than being handed to you on day one. Exposure work only moves as fast as it is genuinely useful.
